I. Diagnostics improved by combining biomarkers

Sample Claim (US Patent 9,933,429 Issued 03 April 2018)

A method of measuring a subset of biomarkers by immunoassay in a subject comprising (a) obtaining a physiological sample from the subject, wherein the physiological sample is blood, serum, or plasma; and (b) measuring in the sample a set of at least six biomarkers selected from the group consisting of MCP‑1, MPO, HGF, MMP‑9, MMP‑7, SAA, Resistin, IL‑5, Leptin, IL12 (p70), IL‑8, IL‑4, IL‑10, IL‑7, MIF, sCD40 ligand, sICAM‑1, or a combination thereof, by immunoassay.

II. Diagnostics improved by regression tree analytics

Sample Claim (US Patent 9,952,220 Issued 24 April 2018)

A method of determining the existence of non-small cell lung cancer early in disease progression by measuring expression levels of a set of biomarkers in a subject comprising: determining biomarker measures of a set of biomarkers by immunoassay in a physiological sample, wherein the biomarkers are peptides, proteins, peptides bearing post-translational modifications, proteins bearing post-translational modification, or a combination thereof; wherein the physiological sample is whole blood, blood plasma, blood serum, or a combination thereof; wherein the set of biomarkers comprise at least four of the following biomarkers: Leukemia Inhibiting Factor (“LIF”), Monocyte Chemotactic Protein 1 (“MCP-1”), IL-9, IL-16, Platelet-derived growth factor subunit B homodimer (“PDGFBB”), Regulated upon Activation, Normal T-cell Expressed, and Secreted (“RANTES”), or Soluble Fas Ligand (“sFasL”); classifying the sample with respect to the presence or development of non-small cell lung cancer in the subject using the set of biomarker measures in a classification system, wherein the classification system is a machine learning system comprising classification and regression trees selected from the group consisting of Random Forest and AdaBoost or an ensemble thereof.

III. Diagnostics improved by novel protein biomarkers

Sample Claim (EP Patent 2195645 Issued 07 May 2014)

A method aiding in the diagnosis of asthma and/or lung cancer pathologies in patients early in the progression of the diseases comprising determining the specific protein concentrations of CAC69571 (SEQ ID NO: 8), and optionally one or more of the proteins FERM domain containing proteins 4 (SEQ ID NO: 5), JC1445 proteasome endopetidase complex chain C2 long splice (SEQ ID NO: 9), Syntaxin 11 (SEQ ID NO: 10, AAK13083 (SEQ ID NO: 6), AAK13049 (SEQ ID NO: 11), BACO4615 (SEQ ID NO: 1), Q6NSC8 (SEQ ID NO: 2), CAF17350 (SEQ ID NO: 3), Q6ZUD4 (SEQ ID NO: 4), and/or Q8N7P1 (SEQ ID NO: 7) in a patient’s serum and comparing the concentration data to concentration data from lung cancer populations and/or asthma populations to verify or nullify the presence of the given pathologies.
