COVID-19 viral test uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology to detect the genetic material of SARS-CoV-2 virus indicating an active infection therefore confirming that the virus is present.

The antibody test detects IgA, IgG, and IgM which develop after individual exposure to the SAS-CoV-2 virus.  This test indicates a past infection and is NOT intended to diagnose an active infection.
